May 1, 2025 Car vs. Bicycle

On May 1, 2025, at 4:44 PM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the intersection of Troy Road and East King Road for a car vs. bicycle personal injury crash.

Upon arrival deputies observed an injured bicyclist being treated by emergency medical personnel and a 2015 Subaru Legacy with front driver side damage.  Through further investigation deputies determined that the Subaru was traveling West on East King Road and failed to stop at the intersection of East King Road and Troy Road.  The bicyclist was traveling North on Troy Road and did not have time to avoid the Subaru due to the Subaru running the stop sign.  The bicyclist struck the Subaru on the driver's side.  

The bicyclist was flown to a local trauma center.  The driver of the Subaru was issued traffic tickets for failing to stop at a stop sign and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
