On February 25, 2024, at 12:37 AM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 300 Block of Sebring Road in the Town of Newfield for property damage crash.
Upon arrival to the scene deputies determined that a 2004 Nissan Sentra was traveling north on Sebring Road, failed to maintain its lane of travel, struck a NYSEG pole and a dumpster. Deputies located the driver of the Nissan asleep at the wheel. The driver was identified as Julie M. Miller, age 60, of Newfield, NY. Miller was not injured. Miller was determined to be intoxicated and was subsequently arrested.
Miller was transported to the Sheriff's Office where Miller refused to provide a chemical breath test. Miller was charged with failure to maintain lane and Driving While Intoxicated (Class E Felony, 2nd offense with a prior conviction within the proceeding ten years). Miller was turned over to Corrections to await Centralized Arraignment Proceedings.
