On January 17, 2024 at 4:30 PM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the intersection of Elmira Road near Five Mile Drive in the Town of Ithaca for a two car motor vehicle crash.
When deputies arrived on scene, they spoke with both driver's and investigated the cause of the crash. Deputies did observe signs of impairment from one of the driver's, later identified as 66 year old Deborah Ervay of Newfield NY. Deputies interviewed Ervay further and Ervay was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated.
Ervay was charged with Driving While Intoxicated (Misdemeanor), Driving While Intoxicated above a 0.08% BAC (Misdemeanor) and following too closely. Ervay was issued an appearance ticket to appear at the Town of Ithaca Court at a later date and was released to a sober third party.
