On March 4, 2024 at 12:22 AM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies responded to Ridge Road near Portland Point Road in the Town of Lansing for a motor vehicle crash.
Upon arrival deputies determined that a Toyota Camry was traveling north on Ridge Road when it left the roadway crossing into the southbound lane and crashed into the ditch. The operator was identified as Darin J. Fergus, age 36, of Lansing, NY. Through further investigation deputies determined that Fergus was impaired by drugs and or alcohol and was subsequently arrested.
Fergus was transported to Cayuga Medical Center for a blood test. Fergus also had two previous DWI or DWAI related offenses but only one within the past ten years. Fergus was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (Felony). Fergus was released on an appearance ticket and is set to appear in the Town of Lansing Court on March 28, 2024 at 2:00 PM. Bangs Ambulance assisted at the scene of the crash.
