Tompkins County Whole Health (TCWH) is announcing a funding opportunity and requesting applications from community organizations to implement projects that will increase accessibility and inclusion for children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) and their families/caregivers. The CYSHCN population includes children from birth to age 21 who have or are suspected of having a serious or chronic physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional condition.
These projects should focus on:
Enhancement of physical spaces to support CYSHCN and their families
Creation of recreational or social support opportunities for CYSHCN
The CYSHCN program at TCWH serves families with children from birth to age 21 who have or are suspected of having a serious or chronic physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional condition, and who require health care and related services beyond that which children generally need. Staff work with families to connect them to resources and supports that benefit their child and family.
TCWH has one-time funding in the amount of $37,500 as part of the newly developed Community Accessibility and Inclusion (CAI) through the New York State CYSHCN Program. TCWH has decided to provide the funds in Tompkins County through awards to community organizations. Organizations can apply for up to $7,500 dollars. The applicant must primarily serve Tompkins County residents (and be based in Tompkins County). Local organizations and municipal entities are welcome to apply (non-profit, local municipalities such as parks and recreation, libraries, etc.). Funds must be spent by September 30, 2026.
Projects may include (but are not limited to):
