Indigenous Peoples’ Day Closing and Recycling Pick-up Schedule

The Tompkins County Department of Recycling and Materials Management will be closed on Monday, October 13th in observance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

However, the Recycling & Solid Waste Center (RSWC) will be open its regular hours, 7:00am to 3:30pm. Curbside recycling collection will follow a normal schedule.

Recycle Your Holiday Cut Tree

The Recycling and Materials Management department is offering cut holiday tree recycling through January 31st, 2025 to Tompkins County residents at no charge.

At the Recycling and Solid Waste Center (160 Commercial Ave, Ithaca, NY), stop at the scale house for a holiday tree coupon, and head to the Yard Waste section.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day Closing and Curbside Recycling Schedule

The Tompkins County Department of Recycling and Materials Management office will be closed on Monday, January 20th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The office will reopen Tuesday January 21st at 8AM.

The Recycling and Solid Waste Center will be open regular hours on Monday, January 20th.

Curbside recycling collection will follow a normal schedule the week of Monday January 20th.

Clarifying Recycling Guideline Changes

Tompkins County Recycling and Materials Management announced that the new curbside recycling guidelines included changes to the accepted materials list for single stream recycling (including curbside recycling).
